It's a double barrel, 12 gauge, with exposed hammers, serial number 303xx, it's marked on the left side with "Hopkins & Allen Arms Company Norwich, Conn U.S.A.". It was given to me recently by my father, it came to him through his uncle (by marriage), and I believe it came to the uncle from his father, so by that history I'm thinking maybe an early 1900s manufacture date(?). My family history is that of farmers and textile mill workers here in the South (NC, USA), so I'm assuming that this was just your run-of-the-mill hardware store type of gun that the average working man could afford, and doesn't have all that much collector value. I'm mainly just looking for historical type information such as when it was made, model, notable features (if any), interesting facts, etc.Īs I said, I'm not all that interested in the value other than if it might be worth enough to insure. I'm not really looking for what the value might be, since it's a family gun and won't be going anywhere. Hey folks, I've recently acquired a Hopkins & Allen double barrel shotgun and I'm looking for any information that you may be able to share with me about the gun.
